Sony WF/WH Headphones Light Colors Explained

Sony: LED is very dim during normal use by design (battery saving). Pairing: blue rapid blink. Charging in case: case LED shows battery fill. Low battery: brief red flash. The earbuds themselves rarely light up during normal use.

Earbuds Red and Blue Alternating Light (Pairing Mode)

Sony: Sony earbuds flash blue-red alternating when in pairing mode. On the WF series, hold the button on both earbuds simultaneously for 7 seconds to enter pairing mode. Sony's case LED shows solid white when charging and off when full.

Earbuds Solid Red Light (Low Battery or Charging)

Sony: Red light inside the case = earbuds are charging. Red light on earbud body (in use) = low battery alert. Sony transitions from red → green when the earbuds reach full charge.

Earbuds Blinking White or Blue Light — Connected

Sony: Blue slow blink = connected and active. The right earbud shows the blink; the left mirrors it in some models. Sony's case LED is separate — front LED shows case charge status.

One Earbud Not Working, Silent, or Not Charging

Sony: Sony right earbud is primary; if right goes silent, secondary left also loses audio routing. If only left is silent, the left-right sync link dropped. Use the Sony Headphones Connect app to re-initialize the connection.

Earbuds Case Shows No Light — Dead Case or No Charge

Sony: Sony's case LED is on the front panel. If completely dark with earbuds inside: case battery likely dead. Sony cases typically show a few hours of warning (low LED states) before dying completely.

Earbuds Blinking Red Rapidly — Critical Error or Low Battery
