Asus Router Lights Explained — All LED Colors & Patterns
Asus: Vertical LED row. Power (white/blue), WAN (white/orange), WLAN 2.4G, WLAN 5G, and 4x LAN. Power solid = good. WAN orange = internet issue. All white = everything working.
Router Blinking Orange Light
Asus: Blue slow blink = normal startup. Orange/amber slow blink on the power or WAN LED = WAN connection failed. Solid red = firmware update failed (different issue).
Router Solid Red Light
Asus: Solid red = firmware-level critical error. This is serious. The router attempted a firmware update and it failed, or the flash memory is corrupted.
Router Blinking White Light
Starting up, in WPS pairing mode, or receiving a firmware update
Router Solid Orange Light (Not Blinking)
Asus: Asus shows solid orange on the WAN LED when physical link is detected but no IP is assigned. Check ASUS router app or 192.168.1.1 → Network Map → Internet status.
Router Blinking Red Light
Asus: Asus routers blink the power LED red when the router detects a hardware fault or has entered firmware recovery mode. Asus Firmware Restoration utility (available on asus.com) can push new firmware over Ethernet if the router boots to recovery.
